The risks of popularity :

Today, social media is a very important part of our lives. From Twitter to Snapchat, without forgetting Facebook and Instagram, these platforms have really evolved through time. But social media‘s risks are big and could heavily impact your daily-life.

Social Media has changed a lot since it’s beginning. The original idea was to give people a new way to communicate with each other by sending pictures, videos, or sentences that reflected on their lives.

However, the new generation had another idea in mind. In fact, ever since this « new G » took a step into the Social Media Universe, it’s only goal was to influence other people.

In other words, young people want to become the most famous and have the most followers they could possibly get.

How ? The number of likes, comments or followers create a wave and keen interest on popularity.

But sadly, being popular rimes with success, money and PERFECTION ! So, when you are not particularly good looking, you’ll try to be the funniest or the strongest.

But how far are we willing to go to be seen on those social medias ? How can those innocent ideas become dangerous ? Why does social media put us in danger ?

Everyone started using social media to share their passions and skills with the people around them.

Little by little the likes are getting more recurrent and the number of follox-wers crawls up.

How to react ? I wouldn’t know. But the reaction of a low self-esteemed kid is always the same : « keep going until you become famous on Snapchat or Instagam ».

This interactive world is still speeding up, and the notoriety you create around your username helps you feeling good about yourself.

Celebrity can come knocking on your door at any minute, but could also lead you to do things you could possibly regret later.

Some decide to expose their private lives, or to expose their bodies half-naked, but without realising what they’re actually doing.

And let’s not talk about haters, who, more they you would think they are, are full with self despise.

With every little thing you do, every step you take, they are watching you, envying you, stalking you just to destroy you. They think hiding behind a screen is a good way to make you feel bad, and keep forgetting that social media is just a facade.

Social media succes can make you money, help you get more confident, or help you forget about an insecurity, sure. But it also hides the mostruous things people can do or say out of jealousy.

So it’s only normal that people can’t cut the pear in two : « with all success comes hate »…

They often forget taht they actual life is not on their screen but right in front of them. You just have to look up.

Popularity is not based on how many likes can that picture get, or how many followers you gained in one week, but simply about how good you feel about yourself.
